Nonprofit Leadership Alliance: Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP)
The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) is the only workforce development organization that certifies diverse, work-ready talent for the nonprofit sector. Founded in 1948, the Alliance’s Certified Nonprofit Professional credential is the only national endorsement that combines critical skills and knowledge, practical experience, and a national perspective. The CNP certification gives students a cutting edge advantage over their potential counterparts by having specialized professional development and internship opportunities in their preferred area of concentration.
As an active, dues paying member of the GSU chapter of NLA, students are eligible to earn a national credential as a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP). This professional certification is conferred by the national Nonprofit Leadership Alliance organization, not Georgia State University; therefore it will not appear on official transcripts or diplomas from the university.
For more information, you can visit the CNP website.
NLA National Office Requirements for Certification:
- Nonprofit Knowledge & Skills (take the CNP Competency Exam)
- Nonprofit Experience (internship or work experience)
- Volunteer Experience (20 hours with a nonprofit organization)
- Leadership Development Experience (AMI or Elevate National Conference)
- Bachelor’s Degree
